The University of Maribor in Slovenia A smarter approach to user identities (Slovenian)

The University of Maribor, Slovenia’s second-largest university with about 30,000 students and 1,800 staff, needed to simplify identity and access management across dozens of systems and eliminate fragmented, manual processes. After evaluating options and running pilots with local partner ADM Adria, the university chose One Identity and deployed One Identity Manager to provide one digital identity per user and a single, university-wide view of entitlements.

One Identity implemented a unified, automated IAM solution (including the Foglight appliance for monitoring) that manages more than 300,000 rights and automates the student lifecycle from enrolment to graduation. The project was completed in three months for student systems and delivered measurable impact: unified access across systems, automated role-based access controls that reduced risk, up to 90% time savings overall, and IT now spends one-sixth of the time creating rights, one-tenth on changes, and one-fourteenth on terminations—establishing the university as a regional IAM best-practice example.
