Case Study: European University Institute achieves access in minutes and stronger identity governance with One Identity

European University Institute grants access to data in minutes whilst protecting systems from growing cyber threats

The European University Institute (EUI), a Florence-based research organisation serving about 4,000 users across academics, alumni, contractors and library patrons, faced growing risk from remote working and needed to tighten identity and access management to protect research, personal and financial data, meet ISO27001 and data‑protection requirements, and speed up provisioning/de-provisioning and role‑based access control. To address this, EUI engaged One Identity and implemented One Identity’s Identity Manager (with partner Net Studio).

One Identity’s Identity Manager centralized identity governance and automated lifecycle processes, giving EUI real‑time visibility on identities, centralized policies for service, privileged and contractor accounts, and stronger controls for compliance. The deployment cut time to grant access from days to minutes, reduced administrative burden for high‑churn roles, improved contractor account control, and set the institute up for further identity lifecycle enhancements.
