Case Study: Falkenbergs kommun achieves secure, automated identity and privilege management with One Identity

A One Identity Case Study

Preview of the Falkenbergs kommun Case Study

Delivering municipal services with unified identity security management

Falkenbergs kommun, a Swedish municipality serving about 50,000 residents with roughly 4,000 employees and 6,000 students, wanted to bring identity and privilege management back in-house after outsourcing raised security and GDPR concerns. To regain control and simplify administration, Falkenbergs kommun selected One Identity’s Active Roles (with One Identity Safeguard for privileged access) to manage user accounts and privileges in Active Directory while keeping the solution on premises.

One Identity implemented Active Roles integrated with the HR system as the authoritative source and bi-directionally with the Swedish tax authority, automating onboarding, provisioning/deprovisioning and student account lifecycle across separate AD instances. The deployment enabled fast adoption by non-technical managers, provided audit visibility and stronger GDPR alignment, centralized identity management for ~4,000 employees and 6,000 students, and reduced manual work—supporting the municipality’s Zero Trust approach and freeing up IT time.
