A One Identity Case Study
The George Washington University faced an urgent identity and access management challenge: an aging, unsupported Oracle-based IAM system caused frequent task failures, inefficient directory access and a time-sensitive Active Directory consolidation across multiple schools. To address this, GWU selected One Identity’s Active Roles as an interim solution to support the centralization effort and modernize account lifecycle processes.
Working with One Identity, GWU implemented Active Roles (including orchestration via Active Roles Sync) to automate role-based provisioning and streamline user and group management for more than 26,000 students and 6,500 faculty and staff. The One Identity deployment cut password reset time from about 10 minutes to near-real time, eliminated most previously common failed tasks, provided immediate failure notifications for faster remediation, and established a strong foundation for a larger campus-wide identity platform.
