Active Roles help the University of West Scotland delivers fast, low impact systems migration

The University of West Scotland needed to consolidate disparate Novell GroupWise/NDS and Microsoft environments and migrate about 22,000 users into a single Active Directory and Exchange Server environment with minimal downtime, no data loss and completion before the new academic year. To achieve this, the university engaged One Identity and its migration offerings, including GroupWise Migrator for Exchange, Migration Manager for Exchange, NDS Migrator, Active Roles and deployment/consultancy services.

One Identity delivered end‑to‑end migration tools and consulting, automating mailbox, calendar and directory moves, running much work out of hours and providing training and knowledge transfer. The project finished on schedule with no data loss and continuous service availability for staff and students, while streamlined administration—notably via Active Roles—reduced IT workload and is delivering approximately 10% in annual cost savings.
