360-degree insight into users’ profiles cuts risk

Western Carolina University needed to improve user experience, tighten IT security, simplify password management, and gain better insight and control over user accounts. To replace an aging system, WCU selected One Identity and its Identity Manager (including the Identity Manager – Data Governance Edition) to better provision applicants and students and to reduce manual account administration.

One Identity, with partner Immersion Technology Services, automated provisioning and deprovisioning, added self-service password reset and tied each person to defined profiles and roles. The deployment removed 70,000 inactive accounts, cut password-reset calls by 24% (saving about 2,000 support hours annually), eliminated 4,700 per-user cloud subscriptions (about $5,000/year), sped applicant account activation to under eight minutes, and enabled a more centralized, secure IT model.
