Zero Carbon Hack, hosted with LafargeHolcim in Lyon, brought together researchers and green building specialists from across Europe to tackle a major challenge: reducing embodied carbon in construction through smarter material use and design choices. The event needed a way to compare different design approaches against a reference building and identify the most sustainable option. One Click LCA provided the software platform used by all teams to quantify and compare results.

One Click LCA powered the hackathon by enabling participants to test alternative structural and material strategies and evaluate them against key criteria such as carbon reduction, technical feasibility, and innovation. The winning team used the tool to achieve a 45% reduction in CO2 emissions for the reference building, and their solution earned a 6-month development contract with LafargeHolcim.
