Whole Building LCA and embodied carbon analysis at new YMCA community centre

YMCA of Greater Toronto needed to understand and reduce the embodied carbon associated with the construction materials for a new YMCA community centre in Canada. To support its low-carbon design goals, the organization worked with One Click LCA using whole-building life cycle assessment and embodied carbon analysis.

One Click LCA, with expert support from Zizzo Strategy, performed a whole-building LCA to calculate embodied carbon in the project’s materials and evaluate material substitution options. The analysis showed the relative emissions impacts of different material choices, and the findings will be used to guide lower-carbon specifications for future YMCA community centres in the Toronto area.
