UPB Group cuts embodied carbon by 25% with One Click LCA

UPB Group, one of the largest industrial groups in the Baltic countries, had dedicated substantial resources to enhancing the sustainability of its operations. Their challenge was to better understand and reduce the embodied carbon of their precast concrete and steel products to meet growing client demands for verified environmental data and to stay competitive, especially in Nordic and Western European markets. To address this, they turned to the vendor One Click LCA, using its EPD Generator service.

By implementing One Click LCA, UPB Group was able to conduct in-house life-cycle assessments to evaluate and optimize every stage of their product life cycles. This data-driven approach allowed them to identify key improvements, such as sourcing local materials and optimizing concrete mixes. The solution delivered significant results, including a 25% reduction in embodied carbon for its precast concrete products and, on a specific project, a 33% reduction for concrete and a 53% reduction for steel structures.
