University of Seville cuts urban heat stress by up to 6.3°C with One Click LCA

The University of Seville, alongside researchers from Valencia Polytechnic University, faced the challenge of preparing a low-income neighborhood in Valencia for dramatically rising urban temperatures. To scientifically analyze the microclimatic behavior and develop cooling strategies, they utilized ENVI-met from One Click LCA for its advanced 3D microclimate simulation capabilities.

Using One Click LCA's software, the team modeled the area and identified passive cooling strategies, including new pavements, green structures, and shading devices. Simulations demonstrated that these solutions could reduce urban heat stress by up to 6.3°C on the Universal Thermal Climate Index, significantly enhancing the area's climate resilience even under a worst-case future scenario.
