University of Cambridge lecturer Dr John Orr and his research team focus on sustainable construction, especially concrete and structural optimisation, with the challenge of reducing embodied carbon while still delivering effective building and infrastructure designs. They needed a practical way to assess building designs, compare alternatives, and support decisions that use only the right amount of materials, no more.

One Click LCA provided a user-friendly tool that Dr Orr’s students and post-docs used to process building designs and run comparative studies, while also validating in-house calculations. The result was faster analysis, low onboarding time for new users, and better support for their research into lower-carbon, optimised structures, helping advance work that has secured more than £9M in funding and involved a 14-person team.
