Terao Asia helps Forvia Fengcheng Mega Plant cut construction CO2 to 648 kgCO2e/m² with One Click LCA

TERAO Asia, a sustainable engineering consultancy, faced the challenge of helping the Forvia Fengcheng Mega Plant in China achieve LEED Gold certification while meeting an ambitious embodied carbon target of under 700 kgCO2e/m². Initial assessments showed the project was set to exceed this limit due to the high carbon footprint of materials like steel and concrete. They employed One Click LCA's construction software to conduct a whole-building life cycle assessment to address this.

Using One Click LCA, the team identified the most carbon-intensive materials and made data-driven decisions, such as switching to structural steel with 30% recycled content. This solution enabled them to significantly reduce the project's embodied carbon footprint to 648 kgCO2e/m², surpassing the target. As a result, the plant successfully achieved LEED Gold certification, setting a new benchmark for sustainable industrial construction.
