Ramboll cuts carbon by 60% and extends Bergen City Hall’s lifespan 50 years with One Click LCA

Ramboll, an independent architecture, engineering, and consultancy company, faced the challenge of deciding whether to rehabilitate or replace the historic Bergen City Hall. They needed to assess the carbon impact of both options and achieve BREEAM certification for the project, requiring a robust life-cycle assessment tool. They used One Click LCA's Carbon Designer 3D to conduct this analysis.

Using One Click LCA, Ramboll was able to compare the carbon emissions of rehabilitation versus new construction and streamline data import for their assessments. The solution demonstrated that rehabilitating the building would generate significantly lower emissions. The project achieved a 60% reduction in carbon emissions compared to a new build, secured a BREEAM 'Very Good' certification, and extended the building's lifespan by 50 years.
