The customer, Page, a global design-led architecture and engineering firm, faced the challenge of accurately measuring and reducing the embodied carbon of its building projects, particularly when dealing with complex factors like material sourcing and inefficient transportation methods in developing regions. To address this, they turned to the vendor One Click LCA and utilized its BIM LCA tools and Revit integration for comprehensive life-cycle assessments.

One Click LCA provided a robust solution with its extensive EPD database, custom material and transportation modeling capabilities, and quality assurance features like the Completeness and Plausibility Checker. This enabled Page to precisely model scenarios, such as the long-distance transport of fly ash for a project in Africa, and determine that the transportation impact would negate the material's benefit. As a result, the client opted for a structural redesign to reduce material volume instead, and One Click LCA was used to quantify the embodied carbon reduction achieved.
