KPMB Architects - Customer Case Study

KPMB Architects, a Canadian design firm focused on high-performance, low-carbon architecture, needed a practical way to understand and reduce embodied carbon across projects. As Director of Innovation, Geoffrey Turnbull and his team were looking for tools and insights to support sustainability goals while balancing aesthetics, technical performance, and evolving carbon requirements. They used One Click LCA to evaluate materials carbon impacts during design.

One Click LCA helped KPMB Architects quickly quantify carbon-saving choices, such as local versus overseas sourcing, and automatically regionalize Transport (A4) and End of Life scenarios based on project location. This reduced time spent searching for applicable data and strengthened the firm’s internal knowledge base. With One Click LCA and related research efforts, KPMB reports achieving 20% to 30% embodied carbon reductions on projects pursuing LEED WBLCA or CAGBC Zero Carbon Building Design Certification.
