Integral Group is a global deep green engineering practice with offices across Europe, North America, and Australia. Through its work on net-zero and deep green projects, the team faced a key challenge: understanding and reducing whole-life carbon, especially embodied carbon from building services such as MEP systems, refrigerants, heating, ventilation, lighting, and cooling.

To address this, Integral Group used One Click LCA, leveraging its database and flexible LCA settings to support research and early-stage design decisions. One Click LCA helped the team compare scenarios and methodologies, showing that building services could represent about 50% of embodied carbon in a worst-case scenario, reduced to 15% in the best case, while refrigerant leakage alone could account for 20% of total embodied carbon.
