Case Study: Hook Norton Community Housing achieves carbon neutrality with One Click LCA

A One Click LCA Case Study

How One Click LCA was utilised to model the potential for carbon neutrality of the structural and civil engineering elements

Hook Norton Community Housing, based in Hook Norton, Oxfordshire, wanted to assess and improve the carbon neutrality potential of a new low carbon community housing project. Working with One Click LCA, they used the platform to model the structural and civil engineering elements of 12 dwellings and a community building designed to meet Passivhaus standards.

One Click LCA, via expert support from SOLID Structures & Infrastructure, helped compare two structural design options, benchmark embodied carbon against European residential projects, and identify materials that could be reduced or replaced. The analysis showed that the timber frame and trench fill foundation option performed better than the steel frame and pile foundation alternative, supporting lower embodied carbon and the project’s carbon-neutral goals.
