Ooredoo, a major international telecommunications company and leading operator in Qatar, needed to rapidly scale and automate its KYC process ahead of a major global sporting event that was expected to bring a surge of new customers. The company faced challenges around fast integration, handling substantially increased traffic, coordinating with government stakeholders, and supporting two different verification flows. To meet these demands, Ooredoo turned to Ondato.

Ondato implemented a tailored KYC solution with two verification flows: one fully managed by Ondato and another hybrid flow using OCR and biometric face matching against the national state registry. Ondato also worked with Qatar’s Supreme Committee to ensure regulatory compliance. The results were strong: Ooredoo handled more than 2 million event attendees, achieved a 99.74% first-attempt verification completion rate, reached 98% automation in one flow and 84.5% in the other, and reduced verification times to about 30 seconds and 53 seconds respectively.
