Case Study: Paris Match achieves a 3x increase in daily SEO visits and fixes GoogleBot crawl blockers with Oncrawl

A Oncrawl Case Study

Preview of the Paris Match Case Study

Paris Match - Customer Case Study

Paris Match, the long‑running French weekly news magazine, faced a classic large‑site SEO problem: 150,000 URLs, duplicated and irrelevant pages, and GoogleBot “blocking” factors that wasted its crawl budget and limited visibility. Working with OnCrawl’s log‑file and crawl analysis capabilities, SEO project manager Julien Ferras set out to deeply audit the site, identify priority issues and understand how Googlebot actually behaved across site sections.

OnCrawl was used to segment content, combine logs with crawl and Search Console data, and drive fixes — removing/redirecting duplicate pages, repairing 301/404 issues, improving page speed, and reworking internal linking and content density. The impact was measurable: Google traffic rose sharply (an 80% increase in 2017 vs 2016), search‑engine visits grew from about 3.5M to roughly 8M monthly on average, and Paris Match now records over 17M visits per month and 100M pageviews; OnCrawl also enabled page‑level gains (e.g., improved InRank, depth, links and load time for target pages).
