Case Study: UNC Health achieves greater operational efficiency with OnBase

UNC Health, a fast-growing health system, needed to improve operational efficiency, speed up workflows, and lower costs across clinical, administrative, and revenue-cycle operations. To address this, UNC Health selected OnBase by Hyland to help capture, index, and unify access to documents, media, and images across EMR, ERP, and HRIS workflows.

OnBase helped UNC Health implement a single clinical image repository, eliminate nine PACS and three reporting systems, and integrate imaging directly into Epic for enterprise-wide access. The solution also supported OnBase content services for unstructured patient documents and automated AP processes with OCR and workflow tools, reducing manual rekeying and improving invoice processing. As a result, UNC Health achieved cost savings, reduced support and enhancement expenses, accelerated physician consults, and advanced its digital transformation and HIMSS Stage 7 milestones.
