Its lending operations were heavily paper‑based—single files ranged from 300 to over 7,000 pages, documents were continually added over a loan’s life, and long regulatory retention periods created slow retrieval, compliance risk and a poor experience for customers and partners.
CHFA implemented Hyland’s OnBase ECM across departments and integrated it with in‑house applications and SharePoint for one‑click document access. Retrieval times dropped from minutes to 1–3 seconds (a 237% improvement), freeing office space and boosting productivity—saving about $600K from faster retrieval, $175K in space, and $1M annually in total—while audits that once took days now take hours and customer/partner workflows have significantly improved.
