OnBase and DocuSign integration enhances member service

Red Canoe Credit Union, a $1.1B community-focused lender with 61,000 members across 10 branches in Washington and Oregon, was overwhelmed by paper — stacks of boxes and full filing cabinets — and had only minimal use of DocuSign before the pandemic. COVID accelerated the need to digitize while preserving the credit union’s personal service, and staff initially hesitant about losing human contact were worried about how to manage increased member requests remotely.

By integrating DocuSign with the OnBase platform, Red Canoe automated workflows, used configurable templates and OnBase Envelopes to track document status, and removed the need for separate sign‑ons. The change eliminated filing bottlenecks, sped collections and loan processing, enabled mobile signing and remote co‑signatures, and boosted usage from 1,300 envelopes in 2019 to 12,000 in 2021 with about an 85% completion rate — improving efficiency, member experience and competitive positioning.
