The MetroHealth System, an 861‑bed academic health system in Cleveland with 17 locations and 400+ physicians, struggled with paper-based manual processes that slowed clinical and administrative workflows despite having ERP and EMR systems. To eliminate paper enterprise‑wide and improve efficiency, MetroHealth sought a solution that would integrate seamlessly with its existing applications.

After an RFP, MetroHealth implemented OnBase by Hyland to centralize and manage information, integrate with Epic and Lawson, automate indexing and business processes, and surface documents within users’ familiar application screens. The change sped approvals from weeks to days, freed HR about 80 hours per month and eliminated large physical file storage, and delivered better information access, compliance, patient records and a faster revenue cycle.
