A OnBase Case Study
Skagit Regional Health (SRH), a not‑for‑profit system in Mt. Vernon, WA with two hospitals and 19 clinics, faced an aging, manual document management system that couldn’t keep pace with growth, lacked key features like color imaging, and created heavy paper and workflow burdens. Needing a robust enterprise content services platform that would centralize patient information and integrate with clinical systems, SRH partnered with Hyland to transform its document and information management.
Hyland deployed the OnBase platform across hospitals and ambulatory clinics, creating a single repository for documents, images, labs, and pharmacy orders, automating indexing and routing, and integrating with Epic, Stryker, Philips and other systems. Hyland converted some 14 million documents (4M initially and 10M during the Epic migration), streamlined workflows, reduced manual tasks and printing, improved interoperability and clinical access to information, and generated cost savings while supporting fast, low‑disruption EHR conversions.
