SAIF, a not‑for‑profit workers’ compensation insurer in Salem, Oregon, tasked with keeping Oregon workplaces safe since 1914, faced rising customer expectations and rapid digital change. Leadership wanted faster, mobile access to claims and policy data, reduced reliance on custom development, and large‑scale change management — including converting 42 million legacy documents and shifting a long‑tenured 500‑person workforce to new digital processes.
SAIF selected Hyland’s OnBase for its low‑code platform and strong Guidewire integration and partnered with Hyland Global Services for implementation, conversion and program management. After initial challenges and a collaborative reset, the rollout enabled paperless automated workflows, immediate remote document access and electronic document packets, cutting tasks that once took a day down to minutes and delivering faster, more transparent service across claims, third‑party and business analysis teams.
