The unbelievable Machine Company is a Berlin-based managed services provider focused on high-quality hosting for enterprise customers, e-commerce sites, media agencies, and start-ups. As it looked to build a new cloud service, it needed a platform designed for service providers that could support reliable performance, scalability, and simple management.

The unbelievable Machine Company chose OnApp for its third-generation cloud and launched *umCloud in March 2012 after starting deployment in December 2011. With OnApp, it added features such as autoscaling, VM templates, self-provisioning, and iPhone and iPad remote management, and it later expanded into multiple availability zones and a second Tier IV datacenter in Amsterdam. The company said it had seen a noticeable growth in revenues since going live with OnApp, and customers responded positively to the simpler, higher-quality cloud service.
