St. John Baptist Church, founded in 1924 in Orlando, is a long-standing community pillar serving an underserved neighborhood with ministries like a food bank and clothing closet. With a congregation of more than 1,000 and a significant population of older, homebound members, the church struggled to consistently disseminate event changes, urgent notifications, and other updates using a rudimentary phone-tree system that caused miscommunication.
After receiving a grant to fund One Call Now for two years, the church implemented the platform and now sends voicemail messages several times a month for weather alerts, announcements, prayer requests, emergencies, cancellations, and targeted group communications. The system has fully replaced the phone tree, improved engagement with shut‑in and older members, and helped the church better coordinate community events like National Night Out and meetings with local officials.
