A On-Site Case Study
Breaking Ground is a New York City nonprofit (founded 1990) that provides supportive and affordable housing plus street outreach to people experiencing homelessness. The organization needed a way to qualify both formerly homeless tenants with complex health and legal histories and low-income renters who must meet tax-credit rules—while protecting vulnerable residents and avoiding costly screening mistakes.
Breaking Ground adopted On-Site’s customizable screening (credit, criminal, and rental history), decision engine and Renter Relations support to get clear, actionable reports. The new process sped up leasing, reduced compliance risk, replaced an outdated system, and helped sustain Breaking Ground’s growth—today serving 3,300 units (1,000 more in development) and contributing to over 12,000 people moved into stable housing.
