Tuklas develops low-cost life vests with On-Off Group for disaster preparedness

The customer, Tuklas, an initiative focused on empowering communities in the Philippines, faced the challenge of enabling local groups to better prepare for natural disasters by generating and refining their own sustainable solutions. The vendor, On-Off Group, employed its Design Thinking service to address this need for creative, grassroots problem-solving.

On-Off Group designed and ran a program that guided participants through the full Design Thinking process, providing training in core methods and mentorship as they developed concepts. The results included teams presenting working prototypes to stakeholders, with one standout innovation being a low-cost life vest made from recycled materials. The vendor's solution built local capability and produced practical, investment-ready innovations for disaster preparedness.
