Top Canadian university uses digital signage to promote on campus activities and keep students informed

Wilfrid Laurier University, a mid-sized Canadian university with roughly 12,000 students, needed a better way to engage and inform students across campus—replacing cluttered paper posters and delivering timely, relevant content without adding staff. To address this, Laurier selected Omnivex and deployed Omnivex Display (along with Omnivex DataPipe and Omnivex Control) as its digital signage platform.

Omnivex delivered an intuitive, real‑time system that automated content management and let a small team (two WLUSU representatives for the student centre) create and schedule messaging. With screens in high‑traffic locations—including seven displays in the Terrace Food Court, student centre kiosks and bookstore installs—the Omnivex solution enabled live TV feeds, emergency alerts, and revenue‑generating third‑party ads, reduced printed waste, increased visibility for events and athletics (boosting school spirit and attendance), and set the stage for expansion to the Brantford campus.
