San Francisco International Airport Launches Interactive Wayfinding Touchscreens Using Omnivex Moxie

San Francisco International Airport (SFO), which serves over 45 million passengers annually across multiple terminals, faced complex wayfinding challenges and relied on more than 270 paper maps that were costly to reprint and slow to update. During the Boarding Area E renovation, SFO engaged Omnivex and its Omnivex Moxie digital signage/interactive wayfinding platform to replace static maps with an interactive solution.

Omnivex deployed location‑aware touchscreens in Boarding Area E that tie Omnivex Moxie to real‑time data sources (maintenance, elevators, alarms, RFID, etc.), enabling multi‑floor and multi‑terminal routing, route recommendations (walking or AirTrain), and conditional logic that factors elevator operation and lighting. The Omnivex solution has enhanced the traveler experience, eliminated the need for frequent map reprints, reduced associated printing and labor costs, and set the stage for expanded deployments and feature additions.
