Portland Trail Blazers - Customer Case Study

The Portland Trail Blazers and The Rose Garden faced an aging concession display system—CRT screens running DVD loops—that limited dynamic menus, pricing updates and sponsor messaging across the arena. They needed a fast, low‑cost overhaul that would run over existing coax, let multiple departments manage content without new hires, support complex event‑based rules (e.g., omitting alcohol in the 4th quarter) and be live for the pre‑season opener. After evaluating many options, they selected Omnivex and its Omnivex Moxie digital signage software to meet those requirements.

Omnivex implemented a Digital Impact network of over 250 LCDs managed remotely by Omnivex Moxie, integrating with the Micros POS/Data Pipe feed, using Playlist Builder rules and user permissioning to automate content, ads and event‑specific displays. The deployment brightened concourses, let fans keep watching games while in line, reduced perceived wait times, and increased concession sales; it also created a new ad revenue stream (20 fifteen‑second spots). The system cost $450,000 and, if all ad inventory is sold, would pay back within one year with an estimated $150,000 profit.
