Case Study: Vancouver Convention Centre achieves centralized digital signage control and enhanced guest navigation with Omnivex

A Omnivex Case Study

Preview of the Vancouver Convention Centre Case Study

Newly expanded Vancouver Convention Centre uses Omnivex software to manage network of digital signage and interactive kiosks

The Vancouver Convention Centre (Vancouver Convention Centre) faced the challenge of guiding thousands of annual visitors across a newly expanded, multi-building facility that tripled in size and now hosts hundreds of events and dozens of simultaneous meetings. Bell Canada was engaged to manage the signage rollout and, after evaluation, selected Omnivex and its Omnivex software suite (including Omnivex Moxie, DataPipe and SQLLink) to provide centralized content and device management for the digital signage and interactive kiosks.

Omnivex implemented a centrally managed digital signage system that feeds meeting and event data from the VCC’s Event Business Management System into Omnivex Moxie via SQLLink and DataPipe, controlling a network of over 170 LCD screens and interactive players. The Omnivex solution enabled near–real-time updates, automated device control (powering screens on/off to cut energy use and extend equipment life), remote fault alerts to increase uptime, clearer guest wayfinding for hundreds of events and roughly 600,000 annual visitors, and earned Omnivex the sole digital signage award in Sign Media Canada’s 2009 National Sign Competition.
