A Omnivex Case Study
Lamar Transit Advertising faced the challenge of deploying and managing a large digital signage network across TransLink’s busy SkyTrain, bus, ferry and station system in Metro Vancouver — a project that had to support high passenger volumes during the 2010 Winter Olympics while delivering news, transit info, emergency alerts and advertising. Lamar Transit Advertising selected Omnivex (using Omnivex Display along with Omnivex Control, DataPipe and WebPad) to provide a scalable, centrally managed content and device platform capable of proof-of-play reporting, real-time alerts and remote diagnostics.
Omnivex delivered a unified solution that remotely manages over 160 46-inch screens in 40+ stations, supports Amber/Red emergency broadcasts, proof-of-play logs for advertisers and automated hardware monitoring. The network was completed three months ahead of the Games (Aug 2009), serves about 552,000 combined weekly boardings, runs ads network‑wide every 6 minutes, achieved a 100% advertiser renewal rate after two years with a waiting list, reduced on-site staffing needs during high-traffic periods and will be managed by Lamar for a minimum of 11 years — all enabled by Omnivex.
