Flam Railway - Customer Case Study

Flam Railway, a world‑renowned tourist route carrying about 600,000 visitors a year, needed a reliable, location‑aware digital communications system to deliver schedules, wayfinding, retail promotions and multilingual audio across docks, stations and moving vintage trains. Challenges included integrating live ship and train data, supporting up to 16 languages with local overrides, and overcoming unreliable GPS in steep fjords and tunnels while maintaining a seamless, branded visitor experience.

Omnivex deployed Omnivex Moxie (in partnership with DataServer) to centralize live data feeds, drive outdoor kiosks, station video walls, onboard displays and audio, and integrate RFID-based location tracking via Moxie’s IOLink where GPS fails. Operators use Moxie Studio for remote control while automated feeds update subscribed screens in real time and staff can override language per car. The result is a continuous, end‑to‑end visitor experience across the journey, automatic updates with no additional staffing required, and ongoing recognition for Flam Railway.
