Wharton County Junior College Gets an Online Faculty Directory Makeover

Wharton County Junior College (WCJC), a public two-year community college in Texas, needed to replace its outdated, home-grown FacultyWeb solution built with Microsoft Office FrontPage. The existing setup was hard to maintain, no longer supported, and made it difficult to keep faculty profile content current, consistent, and compliant with accessibility standards like Section 508 and WCAG. WCJC turned to OmniUpdate and its OU Campus content management system to provide a more manageable and standards-friendly faculty directory.

Using OmniUpdate’s OU Campus, WCJC implemented a standardized, form-based faculty profile template with MultiEdit regions, along with a searchable directory page that aggregated published profile data. The solution improved editorial freedom and site-wide consistency while helping the college meet accessibility requirements, reduce staff time for training and support, and simplify website navigation. The faculty directory launched in January 2013, and the success of the project later helped WCJC migrate its full website into OU Campus.
