Hope College Transforms Online Communication, Starting with a Switch from Drupal

Hope College needed to replace an aging Drupal-based website that was difficult to maintain, lacked reliable support, and made it hard to deliver a better online experience for students, faculty, alumni, and other audiences. The college wanted a full redesign that would improve content, clarify workflows, and support a new approach to online communication, so it selected OmniUpdate’s OU Campus CMS along with related tools before choosing a design and development partner.

OmniUpdate implemented OU Campus, plus online course catalog, directory, and search solutions that integrated with Hope College’s Banner system. The new setup let the web team manage content more efficiently, generate PDFs automatically for the catalog, unify multiple directories, and customize search and site functionality through open APIs and gadgets. Hope College launched phase one of the redesigned site in August 2015, with work continuing through 2016, and achieved a more flexible, responsive website with improved usability and reduced technical burden on staff.
