CSU Channel Islands' Strategy for a Successful CMS Replacement

California State University Channel Islands (CI) needed a replacement for its Serena Collage web content management system after the vendor announced it would no longer be developed. With more than 140 content contributors managing 220 websites, CI needed a new CMS that would be easy to adopt and support strong user buy-in, so it evaluated about 20 vendors before selecting OmniUpdate’s OU Campus® CMS.

OmniUpdate helped CI migrate from Collage to OU Campus using a customized Content Migration Tool, master template support, and hands-on implementation guidance. The university completed the migration in about a year and roughly 1,000 staff hours, moved nearly 300 pages in less than a minute during migration runs, and saw a 250% improvement in user satisfaction, along with higher weekly usage and fewer work order requests.
