NHMRC streamlines ethics applications with OmniStar, replacing NEAF with a single integrated HREA system

The National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) faced challenges with its outdated National Ethics Application Form (NEAF), which was complex, difficult to navigate, and did not support non-biomedical research well. The NHMRC engaged OmniStar to implement a new solution to create a highly flexible forms capability and replace the NEAF.

OmniStar implemented its Ethics platform, integrating SmartForms technology to create the new Human Research Ethics Application (HREA). This solution provided a single integrated system that streamlined processes, prevented duplication of work, and generated time efficiencies for all stakeholders. The NHMRC achieved agile, automated communications and a more intuitive form, solving the existing problems associated with the legacy NEAF system.
