Digital Signage Provides Alert Integrations for Towson University

Towson University, a public campus of more than 22,000 students spanning 329 acres with 15 residence halls housing nearly 5,000 students, needed a way to instantly push emergency messages across campus displays. The university was already using Omnilert’s e2Campus for its emergency notifications and sought to extend those alerts to digital signage to ensure students, faculty, staff and visitors would be informed immediately in an emergency.

Omnilert’s e2Campus was integrated with the campus digital signage (implemented by Industry Weapon) so that emergency alerts automatically take over selected displays with a 160‑character message and supplementary safety details via a cloud‑hosted feed. The setup was tested on a single media player then rolled out campus‑wide, with monthly tests recommended; the integration now delivers real‑time alerts across Towson’s large campus footprint, improving the speed and reach of emergency communications to thousands of campus occupants.
