Evidence Management Made Simple for the Minnesota Department of Revenue

The Minnesota Department of Revenue, which collects over $16.5 billion annually and devotes a large portion of its budget to enforcement, faced growing challenges managing physical and digital evidence seized during investigations. To replace ad hoc basement storage and time-consuming paper searches, the Criminal Investigations Division engaged QueTel (now part of Omnigo) and implemented components of the TraQ Suite—Evidence TraQ, Digital TraQ and DocuTraQ—as part of Omnigo’s Physical and Digital Evidence solution.

Omnigo’s implementation lets investigators log seizures in the field, print receipts and barcodes, designate storage lockers, upload authenticated photos, audio and video, and scan paper files into OCR-searchable records tied to case and barcode numbers. The system enforces an auditable chain of custody, verifies digital file integrity, enables emailed and PDF receipts, and makes documents quickly searchable—giving the Minnesota Department of Revenue far greater control, transparency and efficiency in evidence handling.
