The City of Elko Fire Department and OEM in Elko, Nevada faced a complex hazardous-materials incident when a train carrying military-grade munitions and chemicals derailed. Their challenges included coordinating information between an incident commander on scene and an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) more than 50 miles away, identifying and communicating hazard locations and a decontamination corridor, and maintaining personnel accountability. Omnigo deployed its Incident Management solution powered by Rhodium, enabling the EOC to record critical information while HAZMAT teams were still responding; on-site crews then accessed and enhanced that data with hazard zones, placards, and personnel assignments.
