A Omnigo Case Study
The City of Elko Fire Department and OEM in Elko, Nevada faced a complex hazardous-materials incident when a train carrying military-grade munitions and chemicals derailed. Their challenges included coordinating information between an incident commander on scene and an Emergency Operations Center (EOC) more than 50 miles away, identifying and communicating hazard locations and a decontamination corridor, and maintaining personnel accountability. To address these needs they used Omnigo’s incident management tools—Omnigo Command and Planning powered by Rhodium.
Omnigo deployed its Incident Management solution powered by Rhodium, enabling the EOC to record critical information while HAZMAT teams were still responding; on-site crews then accessed and enhanced that data with hazard zones, placards, and personnel assignments. The Omnigo solution improved timely information sharing, on-scene accountability, and command-and-control capabilities, helping to effectively mitigate the hazardous-material release.
