Case Study: Verizon Wireless achieves sub-second, 100x faster OTA analytics with OmniSci

A OmniSci Case Study

Preview of the Verizon Wireless Case Study

From Hours to Milliseconds: Extreme Telco Analytics

Verizon Wireless needed to analyze Over The Air (OTA) updates sent to roughly 85 million SIM cards, producing 20–30 million log entries per pulse and more than 100 million rows of data per day. Their incumbent CPU-based database produced query response times of one to two hours, impeding timely polling, trend analysis and operational decision making. OmniSci was engaged to address this scale and performance challenge using its GPU-accelerated analytics platform and visualization interface.

OmniSci replaced the legacy system with its GPU-powered database and Immerse visualization, cutting query times from up to two hours to under one second, enabling zero-lag interactivity and more frequent polling. The solution processes 100 million rows per day, delivered over 100x the performance of a 20-node Apache Impala cluster on a single server, and achieved this at a fraction of the previous cost—driving faster insights and real-time decision making for Verizon Wireless.
