NYX Cosmetics, the LA-based professional makeup brand with a massive online following and global retail presence, faced the common e-commerce challenge of helping shoppers envision how products would look on different skin tones, types, and features. The brand needed a scalable way to produce and showcase authentic visual content that would inform purchase decisions and also wanted to bring that richer online experience into its physical stores.
Partnering with Olapic, NYX leveraged user-generated content (UGC) tagged to specific products and shades and published across its site, while adding in-store digital screens, barcode scanning, a “Selfie Wall,” and new education tools. The program improved the omni-channel customer journey and gave NYX analytics to measure UGC-driven revenue and identify brand ambassadors. Results included shoppers viewing an average of 7 UGC photos per visit, a 320% higher conversion rate for shoppers who engage with UGC, a 93% higher average order value, and expansion to ten additional regional sites.
