Magnum, Unilever’s premium ice cream brand launched in 1989 and now selling over one billion units annually, wanted to test user-generated content from its London "Pleasure Store" (#MagnumLDN) in Facebook ads. The challenge was to compare performance of Olapic-powered UGC against traditional brand-created photos in A/B ad tests.

Olapic used PhotoRank™ to surface high-performing UGC, secured usage rights via its Rights Management solution, and ran the photos in Facebook campaigns against brand creative. UGC outperformed brand creative—reaching 67% of the target audience versus 44% for brand creative, with the top three UGC ads following Facebook guidelines and 75% of UGC beating brand creative on attitudinal metrics; one photo delivered a uCTR over 5%.
