A Okta Case Study

Preview of the City of Los Angeles Case Study

The City of L.A. transforms the way it digitally connects residents with the new Angeleno Account

The City of Los Angeles needed to simplify access to city services and improve identity security for more than 4 million residents, businesses, and thousands of city staff. With many users juggling multiple systems and inconsistent custom-built identity solutions, the city turned to Okta to create a more secure, consistent experience for employee and resident access.

Okta implemented a modern identity foundation using Universal Directory, Lifecycle Management, Single Sign-On, MFA, Device Access, and Auth0 for the Angeleno Account. The city centralized 55,000 staff identities, consolidated 30+ partner services’ CIAM solutions, and managed 500,000 Angeleno accounts, while also reducing manual support work, improving security, and enabling faster, more scalable digital services for the future.
