Takeda puts identity at the forefront of its Zero Trust strategy

Takeda, a large global pharmaceutical company, needed a way to protect a mix of old and new applications while supporting secure access for employees, contractors, patients, healthcare providers, and partners. Using Okta’s Workforce Identity Cloud and Customer Identity Solution, Takeda aimed to build a Zero Trust identity strategy that could scale across a complex ecosystem and simplify access without relying on traditional VPN-heavy workflows.

Okta helped Takeda implement TakedaID, a unified identity platform with Adaptive MFA, ThreatInsight, and API Access Management to secure digital transactions and reduce risk. The results included 3.6 million providers and patients using TakedaID, zero downtime over more than two years of Okta customer identity services, 5x faster identity deployment than an in-house solution, and the ability to integrate employees and apps within 6 months after M&A activity.
