A Okta Case Study
Springer Nature, a global research and publishing company with employees across about 200 locations, needed a better way to secure access as its workforce and digital footprint expanded. The company was facing identity-related security risks, including ransomware threats, and its legacy Active Directory and homegrown identity tools made it difficult to roll out multi-factor authentication and streamline access across many applications. Springer Nature turned to Okta to support its identity and access management goals.
With Okta, Springer Nature implemented Universal Directory, Single Sign-On, Adaptive Multi-Factor Authentication, and Advanced Server Access to secure more than 100 applications and 1,200 servers. Okta helped cut app integration time from about 1.5 days to as little as 5 to 30 minutes, saving 148 days and 99% of connector build time for SSO, while also extending password reset policy from every 12 weeks to once a year. The result was stronger security, smoother employee access, and a “zero noise” rollout with no significant increase in helpdesk tickets.
