Sonos automates IT and security tasks at scale with Okta Workflows

Sonos, the fast-growing sound experience company, needed a better way to securely manage employee identities as it scaled, especially for onboarding/offboarding, privileged access, Slack channel access, and password or MFA resets. Its legacy identity setup was expensive and difficult to troubleshoot, with multiple vendors, unpredictable provisioning, and limited automation. Sonos used Okta Workflows as part of its identity stack to simplify these processes.

With Okta, Sonos shifted to an HR-as-a-source model using Workday and Okta for real-time provisioning, reducing complexity and points of failure. Okta Workflows automated onboarding, provisioning, privileged account creation, and MFA resets, while also generating unique, hard-to-guess usernames for high-impact accounts and letting users set their own passwords securely. The result was a more efficient and secure identity infrastructure, with faster changes, fewer manual tickets, and less reliance on costly professional services.
