Root Insurance, a fast-growing publicly traded insurance company with more than 1,000 employees, needed a better way to manage access requests, employee onboarding/offboarding, and compliance reviews as it scaled. Its lean identity team was spending significant time on manual processes, including more than 500 IT help desk tickets per month and over 100 hours annually on access certifications, while trying to maintain least-privilege access and regulatory compliance. Root Insurance partnered with Okta and used Okta Workforce Identity to streamline secure access for its workforce.
Okta implemented Okta Identity Governance, including Lifecycle Management, Workflows, and Access Governance, to automate access certifications and deprovisioning. As a result, Root Insurance reduced certification time from over two hours per resource to minutes, pushed certification response rates above 90%, and eliminated many manual tasks such as revoking app licenses and notifying third parties. Okta helped Root Insurance scale access governance more efficiently while freeing the security team to focus on higher-value priorities.
